Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget as well as arms control. Mitchell traveled with President Ronald Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss issues including the Iran Contra controversy.
